An option to restore missing teeth is dentures. Dentures are removable dental appliances made to restore missing teeth, enhance eating habits, and improve speech. We do not recommend patients to sleep with dentures.
When a patient is missing one or more teeth, a partial denture can be fabricated. There are many different styles of partial dentures: cast (or metal), acrylic, and plastic (Valplast). Again, depending on the situation, your dentist will recommend which is the appropriate material.
When a patient has lost all of the teeth in an arch, then a complete denture can be made. Sometimes, a denture called an immediate denture can be made prior to the removal of all the teeth. On the same day, the teeth are removed and the denture can be immediately inserted. The advantage is the patient is never without teeth.
